KwaZulu-Natal and Durban in particular, is the Mecca of horse racing in South Africa. While racing takes place throughout the year, it is the spectacular one hundred-day Champions Season, staged annually from May through August, that sees all the best horses in the land gather to contest some of the countrys best known races, including Africas Greatest Horseracing Event, the world renowned Vodacom Durban July. Gold Circle Horseracing and Betting boast three racecourses in the province, namely Greyville and Clairwood in Durban and Scottsville in Pietermaritzburg, each unique in their offerings. Greyville, South Africas flagship Racecourse is the home of the Vodacom Durban July.
