32 Battalion (SADF) tribute video
32 Battalion website http://www.32battalion.net/ Known amongst Friend and Foe as "The Terrible Ones" (Os Terriveis), this reputation was derived from operational successes and from its inception in 1975 until it's disbandment it was the most feared Unit by it's foes in Angola and South West Africa, and accounted for more enemy losses than any other Unit of the South African Defence Force. 32-Battalion was probably the most controversial unit of the SADF and its story virtually the untold story of the SWA/ Namibian Border War - a war which took place against the back-drop of the Cold War and which was in fact anything but cold in Africa. The battalion, which also became known as the most successful counter insurgency unit of the SADF, was comprised mainly of former FNLA and other anti-communist fighters from Angola who had sworn allegiance to the South African government. Together with their South African officers, these troops forged a formidable battalion that became known as the best operational Battalion of the South African Defence Force -- if not one of the best in the world.

It started as a co-educational, dual-medium school sited at the present location of Pinetown Girls' High School in Old Main Road with 120 pupils in Standard 6 and 7 and a staff of 14 under the leadership of Mr H E Wiese, the first Headmaster. In its relatively short history, Pinetown Boys' High School has become established as a major high school and it is building an enviable reputation. Already it has gained a first place in the Natal Matriculation Examinations and has had pupils in the top 30 twenty two times in 25 years. Rapid and encouraging progress is being made in the cultural and sporting spheres and a large number of our pupils have gained KwaZulu-Natal, and National colours. The beach culture is a powerful force along the promenade, with the bronzed surf crew hanging out at trendy hangouts bedecked in the latest, slick fashions. In terms of the surf, the Bluff, a large headland at the south end of the harbour, blocks off the swell from the beachfront. If a 6' south swell is running, then the spots along the southern Bluff will be firing but New Pier might only be 3' and South Beach, tucked on the inside, flat. Those spots in the southern corner of the beachfront - such as Vetchies Reef and Addingtons - are usually flat in southern swells, but work in Easterly swells. South swells refract around the bluff, and begin breaking only from South Beach, the waves getting bigger as you head north, past the Wedge, New Pier, North Pier, Bay Pier and Snake Park.
