On the Waterfront at Cape Town

The second in my South Africa series. This shows the restored waterfront area on a Sunday afternoon. This has been likened to the docklands development in London - a model of urban renewal for a previously run down area. This highly fashionable district is still a working harbour, and is a great place to hang out. I'd certainly rather be here than Canary Wharf, any day.

A short video made up from various SADF (South African Defence Force) photographs from the sa-bushwar website. Most of the soldiers in the photographs were National Servicemen who had been conscripted into the armed forces to do 2 years of service. The SA Bushwar lasted for 23 years, from 1966 till 1989, making it one of Africa's longest conflicts. The SA Bushwar was fought primarily in Northern Namibia and Southern Angola.
